Microsoft Word format: 2007-2008 Membership Form (Word)

WHO ARE WE?

The Washington Capitals Fan Club, a member of the National Hockey League Booster Clubs, was established in 1974 for the purpose of developing an interest in the Washington Capitals hockey club, and the sport of ice hockey as played by the National Hockey League.

WHAT DOES THE FAN CLUB DO?

  • Monthly Membership Meetings.  Past speakers have included owners Ted Leonsis and Dick Patrick; general manager George McPhee; broadcasters Ron Weber, Steve Kolbe and Joe Beninati;  NHL officials Paul Devorski and Rob Shick; Capitals assistant coaches Dave Prior, Tim Army, and Tim Hunter; reporters Jason LaConfora (Post) and David Fay (Times); Capitals alumni and Capitals players.   This season we plan to get speakers from the Capitals organization, NHL, the media and others related to the Capitals and the NHL.

  • Organize trips to see the Capitals play on the road. See the Trips page for more details of this year's trips.

  • Host get-togethers with visiting booster clubs and are hosted by other booster clubs when attending away trips.

  • Provide volunteers from the Fan Club to assist the Capitals organization with the Capitals’ Street Festivals, Slapshot Sundaes, and other activities as requested by the Capitals organization.

  • Organize activities for Fan Club Members such as attending  Nationals baseball games; watching Olympic Games at  Dave and Busters in Rockville; Champs in Arlington or the Bailey’s Bar & Grille in Ballston; and skating at Kettler IcePlex.

  •  We publish a monthly newsletter, and announce our activities through our website, www.capsfanclub.org

  • Contribute funds to Capitals' favorite charities such as Children’s Hospital, Children’s Inn at NIH, and other charities for hat tricks, shutouts, “Player of the Month”, and the speakers at membership meetings.

  • Opportunity to participate in the NHL Booster Clubs Annual convention, hosted by a different fan club each season.  Activities last for a week and give the Fan Club Members attending a chance to get to know fans of other teams.  The 2007 Convention was held in Philadelphia (hosted by the Philadelphia Flyers Booster Club) and the 2006 Convention was held in Buffalo (hosted by the Buffalo Sabres Booster Club).
